The Corporate Accounting Manager is responsible for the oversight of the corporate accounting function and will help to further centralize and develop Verano’s accounting processes. The role will lead the monthly/quarterly/yearly-close process, build out supporting accounting schedules, and will working cross-functionally with finance and operations to develop and streamline reporting, and make recommendations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead centralized corporate accounting items including:
Leases, payroll, stock compensation, intangibles, intercompany oversight, and more
Assist in leading month-end close process and ensure the team prepares journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses in accordance with month-end close timeline
Review monthly financial results at the entity level and on a consolidated basis
Oversee and manage a team that prepares monthly reports to business partners
Train, coach and develop skills of staff accountants
Ensure all accounting is in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting guidelines
Consolidate entries and prepare roll-forwards to be utilized in the financial statements
Establish accounting practices and develop or enhance SOPs where applicable
Provide support and assistance to external auditors
Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to management
Prepare internal reports as required and perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in accounting or finance required
6+ years of direct experience required, preferably in public accounting
Microsoft Office, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel, experience required
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must have strong problem-solving and time management skills
Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC, and/or IFRS rules and regulations required
Must be able to execute and follow through to completion and documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA designation is a plus
SAP S/4HANA experience is a plus
Sage Intacct experience is a plus
Physical and Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position, move and/or position oneself, communicate, operate and/or prepare, place, position objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally move packages weighing up to 10 lb. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close observation and the ability to adjust focus.
