Security Specialist
The Role
Position hours are Monday - Friday 10:30AM- 7:00PM with occasional weekend when necessary/support.
The Security Specialist is responsible for ensuring the overall security of the Oglesby Cultivation Facility and report to the Security Supervisor or Manager. Security Specialist will be responsible for the overall monitoring of the security system and security operations of the cultivation center. The Security Specialist will monitor the video security system monitoring live cameras, ensuring overall compliance with State Regulatory guidelines, and GTI SOP to ensure strict compliance. The Security Specialist shall ensure the implementation of security policies, regulations, rules, and procedures to make sure that the environment of GTI/IL is safe for employees and visitors by maintaining visitor and employee access controls, perimeter and door checks and walking patrols throughout the GTI property. The Security Specialist shall carry out duties and delegated tasks assigned to them as directed from the Security Manager. The Security Specialist shall ensure standards and training of employees is conducted relating to safety and regulatory compliance as it relates to security procedures and SOP. Complete documentation of required forms and reports as required by state regulation, and internal reporting procedures. Conduct internal investigations as assigned by the Security Supervisor. Supervision of personnel, visitors, and contractors as necessary and to check and monitor the access controls perimeter security system of the facility. The Security Specialist shall work with the work closely with the staff members to ensure compliance and proper authorization of anyone entering and exiting GTI operational space.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring the physical security of GTI operations and employees
- Ensure the safety of personnel and protection of company assets and products
- Monitoring of security systems to ensure serviceability and operability daily
- Conduct monthly equipment checks of security system
- Liaison with security system vendors in upgrades or repair to equipment
- Participate or coordinate fire drills, and building evacuations and life safety drills
- Implementation of security policy, procedure, and protocols
- Learn the State regulatory requirements pertaining to the oversight of our facility.
- Conduct SOP/Regulatory training and development of employees
- Possess and in-depth knowledge and understanding of all applicable state regulations and GTI Security and Operational SOP
- Conduct and document employee violations of SOP or Regulatory Compliance Violations
- Investigate suspicious activity and document in clear methodical manner
- Conduct or assist in background investigations for prospective employees
- Conduct internal investigations into theft, diversion, violations of regulatory law or any situation by direction of the Director of Security
- Liaison with local, state, and federal authorities if required
- Conduct daily opening, mid-day and closing perimeter security checklists
- Conduct walking patrols of the interior and exterior of the facility and documenting on appropriate forms
- Manage and complete Security related team projects assigned by Security Supervisor or Manager
Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma
- Not required but favorable consideration for those possessing a bachelor’s or associate degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related subjects in addition to a minimum of 4 years Employment in a local, state, or federal law enforcement, Sheriff’s Office or local, state, or federal corrections institution, or minimum of 4 years in related security field or military service MOS
- Applicants for Security Specialist must be over 21 years old and have a driver’s license before being hired in addition to passing all background check, and pre-employment screenings on conflict resolution, and de-escalation tactics
- Recommended but not required, certification or training in Security or Police related subjects
- Strong oral and written communication skills
