Job Description:

Empire State University is currently seeking a Director of Non-Credit Programs (State Title: Staff Associate) in the Center for International and Extended Education. The Director will draw upon Empire State University's history in meeting the unique demands of learners by developing non-credit opportunities for relevant, affordable upskilling and development programs. The inaugural Director will spearhead the development and implementation of the university's non-credit learning opportunities strategy including online or in-person short courses, intensive seminars, and workshops culminating in an earned credential, such as a certificate of completion, micro credential, or professional certification. The selected incumbent will work closely with industry and statewide groups to develop a menu of offerings for those seeking skills and qualifications outside traditional degree and certificate pathways.

Working collaboratively across the university, the Director will effectively manage workflows and processes, integrating non-credit learning into the array of educational offerings available to students. This Director will directly supervise the Coordinator of Non-Credit Programs and will report to the Sr. Executive Director of the Center for International and Extended Education.

Specific job duties include:

  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop a non-credit learning opportunity strategy.
  • Evaluate trends and develop relevant non-credit education programs aligned with the Empire State University mission and strategic plan.
  • Work collaboratively with relevant Deans and Department Chairs to develop non-credit opportunities complimentary to credit-bearing courses of study.
  • Work in tandem with the Office of Partnerships to align efforts for successful and strategic outreach.
  • Develop non-credit benchmarks consistent with industry-wide standards and communicate procedures and best-practice for non-credit bearing opportunities with functional offices.
  • Prepare budget forecasts and requests for all non-credit activity of the university.
  • Manage admission, registration, and advisement of non-credit students within Recruit and Banner systems.
  • Manage the hiring and assignment of instructors for all non-credit activity.
  • Publicize and market signature non-credit programming with local, national, and international partners.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accreditation American institution of higher education, or international equivalent.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant academic or administrative work experience.
  • Proven ability to successfully collaborate across an organization to achieve a collective goal.
  • Excellent communication and public presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Education Administration, Public Administration, or other relevant discipline.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Experience leveraging existing systems to advance new initiatives, within a higher education context.
  • Proven record of developing curricula to meet student demand.
  • Management experience.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Additional Information:

Rank/Salary: SL4 / $80,000-$85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
