Job Summary
The Director Environmental, Health, and Safety will be responsible for building a strong safety culture focused on protecting AYR employees, visitors, contractors, the environment, and the company. Reporting to the VP Quality & HSE, this individual will create a network of internal partners across the company at Grow / Make facilities, retail stores, and company offices to implement and champion EHS policies and programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Health / Safety?
- Design standardized safety systems, policies, training, campaigns and programs to reduce corporate and human capital risk, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.?
- Work collaboratively with business operations to implement safety and health initiatives, including safe work procedures and PPE requirements, in accordance with company policies and regulations.?
- Manage incident reporting and investigation as well as root cause analysis.??
- Analyze and identify trends that increase injury and accident frequency/severity; develop and direct the implementation of training programs using the appropriate resources.?
- OSHA reporting and audits.?
- Lead risk assessment, change management and business continuity planning.?
- Identify and monitor key performance metrics and indicators to ensure both process and continuous improvement.?
Environmental??
- Identify environmental hazards and trends inherent in AYR operations and establish and implement methods and guidelines to mitigate those hazards.?
- Expertise and state/city knowledge regarding air quality, effluent water quality, and odor mitigation for surrounding neighborhood, and hazardous waste spills/containment and disposal?
- EPA reporting and audits.??
- Initiate and build working relationships with OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency and other regulatory agencies to promote AYR Wellness safety programs and manage regulatory exposures and OSHA citations to zero.?
- Ensure completion of action items from inspections and audits to maintain or achieve compliance.??
- Identify and monitor key performance metrics and indicators to ensure both process and continuous improvement.?
Qualifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associated Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or other EHS related certifications preferred.??
- Proactive critical thinking and problem solving.?
- Ability to influence and create followership with others. - Strong initiative, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.??
- Effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization, enlisting the needed cooperation for successful implementation of programs and other measures needed to meet performance standards.?
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field.
Experience
- 10+ years’ experience building, implementing, and leading Health, Safety, and Environmental programs.?
